Trump's first 18 months back in the White House have been an economic rollercoaster driven mostly by his own policy moves — including the immigration crackdown and the tariff hikes he promised on the campaign trail, plus a war with Iran nobody saw coming that's pushed oil prices up and put global supply chains at risk.
The economy has actually held up better than many economists thought it would. But Trump's promises to bring prices down, create more factory jobs and make things easier for the middle class still haven't panned out, and the midterms are now just over three months away.
