With the defeat of Hungary's nationalist leader Viktor Orban, Europe's far right has lost one of its biggest champions
Orban's government provided a blueprint for right-wing populists and politicians, and he was the European leader with the closest ties to US President Donald Trump's MAGA movement.
His loss deprives the growing European far right of a model for the nationalist governments they aspire to establish across the region, and a deeply resourced ally.
Orban's closeness to the MAGA movement is now seen as a double-edged sword by some far-right politicians, as Trump is deeply unpopular in Europe.
