I never hesitate to recommend anything written by my colleague Timothy Aeppel. This excellent story by him and Jarrett Renshaw is no exception.
They travelled to South Bend, Indiana to take a closer look at US President Donald Trump's claims that his policies are unleashing a new American factory boom. South Bend was a once thriving industrial hub that has struggled for decades to regain its economic footing.
In industrial communities, the reality is more nuanced. While government policies are lifting some sectors, they are clouding the outlook for others, leaving many manufacturers navigating a patchwork of incentives, tariffs and shifting signals from Washington.
